Battle of the Badges basketball tourney set

    The 12th annual Battle of the Badges 2012 Law Enforcement Basketball Tournament will be held, Friday-Sunday, Oct 5, 6 and 7, at Sollers Point Multi-purpose Center, 323 Sollers Point Road.
    The tournament honors the late Turner Station native Sgt. Gwen Parrish, a onetime North Point Precinct 12 officer and the first African-American woman in the Baltimore County Police Department to achieve the rank of sergeant.
    On Friday, opening ceremonies begin 6:30 p.m, with games beginning 7 p.m. Play begins 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  
    The lineup includes the Baltimore County Fire Department, Baltimore City Fire Department, USA Lockdown, NYDOC Gunners and Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, the defending champions.
    Admission is $4 per day or $9 for a weekend pass. Children younger than 5 get in free.
