The Maryland Bankers Association (MBA) honored Baltimore County Savings Bank (BCSB) with a 2012 Financial Education Award for the bank’s education progam for school-age children during a Nov. 9 awards ceremony at the BWI Marriott. The annual award, which focuses on teaching financial education, recognizes MBA member banks that excel in spreading financial education within the communities they serve.
BCSB has a successful student-banking program called Super Saver Kids, which operates within its 16-branch network. In the progam, trained BCSB employees visit participating schools each month for “banking days.” With the help of teachers and older student volunteers, students become familiar with bank transactions and learn money-management skills.
Parents can find out if their school is participating and learn how to establish the Super Saver Kids program at their school by contacting a local BCSB branch. Visit www.baltcosavings.com for locations.
