Kathie Zink earns U.S. Army Career Claims Award

Kathie Zink, formerly of Dundalk, received the U.S. Army’s Career Claims Award in a Dec. 13 ceremony at Fort Meade. She worked as a civilian in the Army Claims Service in the judge advocate office for almost 37 years, beginning at Ft. Holabird in 1963. After her move to Fort Meade in 1972, she became the first civilian claims examiner. From 1979 to 1980, she headed the Iran Task Force, where she oversaw the adjudication of all U.S. Army personnel claims arising from the fall of the Shah’s government. In 1997, she was recognized as Fort Meade’s Outstanding Woman Employee in a Nonsupervisory Position. The judge advocate general selected her as an honorary member of the JAG corps in 1999. She retired in 2000. She is a Dundalk High School graduate.
