Battle Acre Park desecrated by vandalism

The front gate of Battle Acre Park, which commemorates the Battle of North Point, was apparently vandalized during the last week of January. Fran Taylor, a member of the Baltimore County War of 1812 Bicentennial Committee, reported    the damage to the county’s property management office. As of press time, the gate had not been fixed. Battle Acre Park is a key element in the Star-Spangled
Banner National Historic Trail, which was created to highlight the area’s role in the War of 1812.  State funding to upgrade the park to make it more accessible to visitors has been allocated in this year’s state budget and is pending appropriation.  photo by Roland Dorsey
