Baltimore County yard materials collection begins
Wednesday, 17 April 2013 09:22
Baltimore County is now collecting yard materials for recycling separately from trash for residents with a “Y” on their schedule.
For example, if a resident’s first “Y” day is May 30, yard materials set out from May 20 to 29 will not be collected with the trash, but will be collected on May 30. If a resident’s schedule has no “Y” days, their yard materials will be collected with the trash.
While county residents may set out an unlimited number of bags of yard materials, the collector may not be able to pick up all bags on the same day. Residents should leave yard materials out until collection occurs.
Yard materials acceptable for recycling include grass, leaves, vines, twigs, shrubbery trimmings and some branches and limbs. Branches and limbs must not exceed three inches in diameter or three feet in length and must be tied in bundles that do not weigh more than 30 pounds.
Residents should use paper or plastic lawn bags to set out yard material. Do not use trash cans.
Separate yard material collection will continue through December. For more information about the county’s trash and recycling collection program, visit www.baltimorecountymd.gov/solidwaste or call 410-887-2000.
