BCPL Summer Reading Club registration now open
Wednesday, 12 June 2013 09:01
Pre-registration for Baltimore Public Library’s Summer Reading Club 2013 is now available online at www.bcpl.info/summerreading.net or in person at the Sollers Point and North Point libraries. Club materials can be picked up at these branches beginning Monday, June 17.
“Dig Into Reading” is this year’s theme for readers from pre-k to grade 5. The theme for middle and high school readers is “Beneath the Surface.”
The Summer Reading Club seeks to prevent the loss of reading skills acquired during the previous school year by encouraging reading through incentives and a variety of interesting books.
Younger readers will earn stickers for each of the 16 activities completed on a game board. Those students who earn 16 stickers can redeem them for a prize. Middle- and high-school readers fill out raffle tickets for a variety of prizes after each book they read for a drawing at the end of the summer.
Younger children not yet old enough to read can participate in the Read-to-Me Summer Reading Club. For more information on this program, visit www.bcpl.info/goodreads.
