What’s new in the business community

  Norris Automotive Group has been named the third fastet growing retail company in Maryland and one of the fastest growing, privately held companies in the country on this year’s Inc. 500/5000 list. Norris, which sells new and used vehicles and parts from its Merritt Boulevard store and four other state-wide locations, grew 48 percent from 2009 to 2012, reaching more than $219 million in revenue. During that same period, Norris added 100 jobs; the company currently employs more than 400 workers at its five locations. Norris CEO Andrew Franklin noted that his company was the only Maryland automotive retailer named to the list. He commended Norris’ employees for helping fuel customer satisfaction and the company’s growth despite the stagnant economic climate. Norris, which has been serving the automotive needs of Dundalk since 1917, offers an extensive inventory of new, previously owned and certified used vehicles. Its commercial division maintains a parts inventory of more than $7 million and the company offers service facilities and round-the-clock mobile service crews.
