    A parent information night on the College Savings Plans of Maryland program will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. at Sparrows Point Middle School, 7400 North Point Road. The session will offer information and application materials on two plans to help save for college costs and is open to all interested parents.
    The Maryland Prepaid College Trust Plan allows participants to lock in future tuition costs at current rates and offers the security of a Maryland legislative guarantee. The Maryland College Investment plan provides a variety of different investment portfolios managed by T. Rowe Price. Both plans offer state and federal tax benefits.

    Dundalk students Rachel Bartock and Caleen Kufera were named to the fall 2013 Dean’s List at York College of Pennsylvania. Bartock is a senior in the nursing program and Kufera is a sophomore majoring in political science. To be eligible for the list, students must carry at least 12 academic hours and earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

    The Maryland State Department of Education is now accepting nominations for the seventh annual Maryland Parent Involvement Matters Award (PIMA) program. PIMA honors parents and other legal guardians whose contributions to public education have led to improvements for Maryland public schools, students, teachers, programs and policies.
    Nominees must be a parent or guardian of  children registered in a public school who have significantly impacted education within the last 12 months in the areas of volunteering, communication, learning, decision-making and community involvement.
