Fort McHenry toll booth work in progress until April 1
Wednesday, 26 February 2014 11:01
A toll booth replacement project at the Fort McHenry Tunnel toll plaza is currently underway and will continue through Tuesday, April 1.
At least one toll lane will be closed for construction in both the northbound and southbound lanes during daytime hours during the construction period. One of these lanes may be closed continuously during this time.
The toll lanes on either side of the closed lanes may also be closed each night, but both adjacent lanes will not be closed at the same time. Adjacent lanes will be closed alternatively, either between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. or 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
All oversized (permit) vehicles should continue to use the far right toll lane in both directions (toll lane 1 northbound and toll lane 24 southbound). If the far right lane is closed during the construction period, drivers must queue and wait for the toll lane to open.
Oversized (permit) vehicle drivers must call 410-537-1230 at least one hour prior to the arrival at the toll plaza to provide notice of intent to travel.
Motorists should pay attention to the highway message signs when approaching the toll plaza and listen to the Highway Advisory Radio (1610 AM) for information on which toll lanes are closed.
