Lacey earns degree

Former Dundalk resident Steven David Lacey received a bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering (MSE) from the University of Maryland College Park during commencement ceremonies on May 23. As an undergraduate student, he researched rechargeable batteries and flexible electronics. Lacey was also guest researcher at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory and studied obscurants and ballistic body armor at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was inducted into Alpha Sigma Mu, the international honor society for material science and engineering, and received the Deparment of MSE student research award and an honorable mention from the National Science Foundation’s graduate fellowship. Lacey will pursue a doctorate at the University of Maryland in the fall. He is the son of David and Linda Lacey and the grandson of Erland and Hilda Erickson of Watersedge and the late Jean Lacey of Aberdeen.
