County offers holiday pet promotion fee and advice
Wednesday, 02 July 2014 12:29
Baltimore County Animal Services is offering pet adoptions at half the cost now through Sunday, July 6, at the Baltimore County Animal Shelter, 13800 Manor Road in Baldwin, as part of its Patriotic Pet promotion. During this time, cats can be adopted for $25 and dogs for $32.50.
The fee ensures that each adopted animal has been spayed or neutered, has had a complete health exam and a certificate of health, has received its first set of vaccinations, has been micro-chipped with lifetime registration information and has a Baltimore County license. In addition, new pet owners will receive a half-off coupon for a spray or neuter procedure for another pet in the future.
Shelter adoption hours for the promotion are Thursday, July 3, from noon to 6 p.m., Friday, July 4, from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, July 5 and 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call the shelter at 410-887-7297.

Holiday Advice
Baltimore County Animal Services recommends that pets be left at home while pet owners attend Fourth of July parades or firework displays.
Pets, especially dogs, do not like loud noises. A freightened dog can easily pull away from its leash, run away and get lost or get run over.
Pets should be kept inside at home during periods when loud noises are anticipated. If left alone, pets should be secluded in a place where outside noises are muffled.
