Local seniors are invited to submit artwork for art contests hosted by the Ateaze Senior Center on Tuesday, Aug. 12, and the Edgemere Senior Center on Friday, Aug. 15. Winning entries will be featured in the Power of Age artshow and contest at the Baltimore County Baby Boomer/Senior Expo, which takes place Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 22 and 23, in Timonium.
Submitted artwork can be in seven categories: drawing, handmade jewelry, sculpture, painting, color photography, black and white photography and woodcraft. The senior centers will each have their own judges. One first place winner for each category will be chosen.
To enter artwork, seniors must be age 60 or older and the entry must have been created since the artist was 60. Seniors must be registered members of a Baltimore County senior center, but do not have to be members of the senior center that is hosting the art show. Artists can only enter artwork at one senior center and are limited to two entries. Previous winners are not permitted to re-enter winning artwork. Entries must include the artist’s name, phone number, senior center and entry title.
