Two-alarm blaze started in basement

A two-alarm fire at Ross’ Crab House on   North Point Road spread to three floors of the building and caused heavy damage but no injuries on Sunday evening, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department.
The fire apparently began in the building’s basement and was discovered by employees at about 7:25 p.m.
A Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Department unit was reportedly in the area at the time and was the first to respond.
A second alarm was eventually called, and 15 pieces of firefighting equipment were used to combat the blaze, according to fire department information.
Fire officials described the blaze as “contained” by 9 p.m.
No damage to nearby buildings was reported, and one Wise Avenue volunteer firefighter was transported to a local emergency room for what a county Twitter message described as a high-blood-pressure-related condition.
The fire caused the closure of long stretches of North Point Road and Merritt Boulevard for several hours.
