Movies in the Park, the Dundalk Renaissance Corp. film series that brings families out to Heritage Park for free movies, is ready to kick off another season.
DRC Community  Projects Coordinator Leah Bunck said that the DRC has shown movies in the past but had to stop as grant money was hard to get. Now, she said, sponsorship has revived the event.
“The community was asking for it. We felt that we needed to bring them back,” Bunck said.
The movies are sponsored by the DRC, Concerts in the Park’s Angel Ball and the Y Aquatic Center at Dundalk. Bunck added that Ball is also behind this effort, as she was in rescuing the Concerts in the Park series from its apparent demise last year.

Dundalk residents are invited out to see the animated movie Up. If you can’t make it out for that, the movie Big Miracle will be shown on Friday, Aug. 17. Both movies start at 8 p.m. and the rain date is the following Saturday.
The DRC said there will be balloons available for the kids and other activities.
“We are working on having a scavenger hunt since the theme is adventure,”  Bunck added. “For Big Miracle, we are working on getting an inflatable whale and we also have light crafts too.”
Residents are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and bug spray. Food, snacks and drinks are available for sale by the Southeast Warrior Football Team.
