A former Edgemere man was found guilty of several sex offenses involving a child and was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Dec. 4 in Baltimore County Circuit Court.
Patrick M. O’Toole, 52, who was living in Frankford, Del., at the time of his arrest, must also register with the Maryland Sex Offender Registry.
O’Toole was found guilty by a jury of the sex abuse of a minor and two counts of a third-degree sex offense.

He received a 25-year sentence for the sex abuse of a minor and 10-year concurrent sentences for the two third-degree sex offense convictions.
O’Toole was convicted of the sexual abuse of a child beginning in Oct. 2004, when the victim was six years old, and ending in Oct. 2008.
The abuse came to light when O’Toole’s girlfriend, a relative of the victim, wanted the child to spend the night at the home she shared with O’Toole.
The victim, then 10-years-old, refused the invitation and told others of the abuse.
After the victim was interviewed by police and the Maryland state’s attorney’s office, O’Toole was brought back from Delaware for questioning and eventually charged.
He declined a plea bargain and opted for a jury trial, which began on Sept. 11 with O’Toole pleading not guilty to all three charges.
The jury returned a guilty verdict on Sept. 12.
