Project should be done by week’s end

Motorists driving into Dundalk might have noticed a few delays exiting Interstate 695 onto the Merritt Boulevard ramp.
An electrical services company has been performing work on the side of the road, causing the closure of Merritt’s right lane just before the rail bridge.
Delays have been most noticeable in the morning after rush hour.

According to  Fran Ward, community liaison for the State Highway Administration (SHA), repairs are being made to the underground electrical cable that feeds power to the lights.
“They have been working in the area between the cloverleaf ramp from the Inner Loop to Eastern Boulevard and north of the railroad tracks,” Ward said in an e-mail to The Eagle.
She added that the work is being done under an ongoing highway lighting maintenance contract and the project should be done by the end of this week.
There should be no more lane closures, but motorists might find activity on the shoulder of the ramp, she said.
“Although there will not be any lane closures, there will be construction vehicles parked along the shoulder, so drivers should proceed with caution while driving in the work zone next week,” Ward noted.
