Officer shot one of the men after being stabbed by Heather Perlberg An off-duty Baltimore City police officer was attacked by two men and shot one of them after he was stabbed outside a Dundalk nightclub, according to a Baltimore County Police Department press release. County police were called just after 2 a.m. last Thursday in reference to a fight outside Christina's Female Revue in the 4500 block of North Point Boulevard, said Cpl. Michael Hill, spokesman for the county police department. When the bar closed, the city officer, identified as Eric Jansen, 42, went outside and was attacked by two men, who stabbed him in the neck and back, the release said. Jansen was able to pull out his handgun and fire a shot, which hit one of the men in his upper body, Hill said last Thursday. Police were still investigating the incident and had not yet determined what precipitated the attack, according to the release. Jansen has been on the force for 15 years and works in the Violent Crimes Impact Division, according to Donny Moses, a spokesman for Baltimore City police. The officer and the man who was shot were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma. Jansen has since been relased from the hospital, the report said. The man who was shot, identified as Glenn C. Lansinger, 27, of North Boundary Road, remained at Shock Trauma on Monday and, along with the second attacker, identified as Lucas James Baumeister, 23, of Marjeff Place in Parkville, was charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault. Baumeister was being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center early this week, the release said. |
