Independence Day closings and trash pickup changes
Wednesday, 30 June 2010 14:17
Baltimore County government offices and courts will be closed Monday, July 5, in recognition of the Independence Day holiday.
On that day, there will be no charge for metered parking in the county. Health Department clinics, libraries, senior centers and the county animal shelter will be closed, and CountyRide vans will not run.
United States Postal Service offices will also be closed on July 5 in recognition of the holiday. No mail will be delivered on that day.
The postal service will operate during adjusted retail hours on Saturday, July 3. Hours will be posted at each location. However, mail will be delivered as scheduled on July 3.
There will be no trash, recycling or yard materials collection on the holiday, and trash and recycling drop-off facilities, including the Eastern Sanitary Landfill, will be closed.
Baltimore County residents whose trash or yard materials would normally have been collected on Monday, July 5, should set it out on Monday night for collection on Tuesday, July 6.
Residents whose single stream recyclables would normally have been collected on Monday, July 5, are asked to hold those items until the next scheduled recycling collection day, Monday, July 12.
For more information, residents may call the Bureau of Solid Waste Management's 24-hour customer service line at 410-887-2000 to obtain a collection schedule, or visit the bureau's website, www.baltimorecountymd.gov/recycling.
