Baltimore County’s Growing Home Campaign, coordinated by the county’s Department of Environmental Protection and Resource Management, has expanded to include a partnership with Baltimore City. The Growing Home program, a winner of the National Association of Counties 2008 Achievement Award, is a public-private partnership that attempts to increase the tree canopy in the region by offering homeowners comprehensive education about planting trees and a cash incentive, the $10 Growing Home Tree coupon, to encourage tree planting on private residential land. Through the Growing Home brochure and site, baltimorecountymd.gov/ go/trees, homeowners can receive the $10 coupon, information about the value of adding trees to their property and within existing neighborhoods, guidance about site considerations and tree species selection, and instructions about tree planting and maintenance. For more information, visit the Web site or contact Diana Cohen at 410-887-4488, ext. 287, or by e-mail at
