East County Times owner George Wilbanks passed away on Feb. 28. He was 85. Well-known across Dundalk, Essex and beyond, Mr. Wilbanks made an indelible mark on the community. The Dundalk Eagle wishes to extend condolences to Mr. Wilbank’s family and friends and the staff of the East County Times.

The filing deadline for candidates running in this year’s elections passed on Feb. 27, and thus the field is set for the 2018 primary and general elections.
As we have been doing since last fall, the Eagle will continue to run profiles on the candidates for governor and the local offices (state Senate, House of Delegate, County Executive, County Council and school board. As the elections get closer, we will continue to cover debates and other issues that affect you. Will the Republican wave that swept Dundalk in 2014 hold in 2018? As winter begins to loosen its grip and warmer weather peaks around the corner, everyone is starting to wake up from their winter hibernation and plan events across the community. From the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17 to the Dundalk Renaissance Corporations’ Milestone Awards on March 23, March promises to be the start of a busy, and fun, spring season in Dundalk.
