First Shot Mentored Deer Hunt

Applications for the First Shot Mentored Deer Hunt are being accepted until Sept. 20.

CAMBRIDGE — Applications are being accepted for a mentored first timer deer hunt in October at the Blackwater wildlife refuge.

The First Shot Mentored Deer Hunt is intended to introduce adult hunters (18 and older) that do not otherwise have the skill set or knowledge to hunt deer on their own and would like to learn and hunt with skilled veteran hunters.

The hunt dates for the selected applicants will be Oct. 29 or Oct. 30, and the deadline to register is Monday, Sept. 20.

Space is limited, and participants will be selected via random lottery. Winners will be notified by Sept. 22.

No experience is necessary to participate, including Hunter Education or a current hunting license.
