World War II aircraft of the Commemorative Air Force AirPower History Tour will be visiting Martin State Airport in Middle River, MD June 12 – 16 and public tours will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. of the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, FIFI, Consolidated B-24 Liberator, DIAMOND LIL , T-6 Texan, PT-13 Stearman and TBM Avenger.

Rides on these warbirds can be scheduled at www.airpowerhistorytour.org. The Boeing B-29 Superfortress, first flown in 1942, began active service in the US Army Air Corp in 1944 and is best known as the aircraft whose missions over Japan helped bring an end to World War Ii. DIAMOND LIL was the 26th B-24 of 18, 482 of these aircraft built. The T-6 Texan is the legendary trainer on which WWII aviators learned to fly. The Avenger is the largest single engine bomber built in WWII. The PT-13 trained more crews than any other aircraft during WWII.

Through more than six decades of collecting, and flying World War II aircraft, the CAF has become the world’s largest flying museum with over 170 World War II airplanes supported by 12,000 volunteer members. Nearly all the aircraft are kept in flying condition, enabling people to experience firsthand the sight and sound of vintage military aircraft in flight. The CAF is dedicated to honoring American military aviation through flight, exhibition, education, and remembrance. The Tour Fee of these aircraft includes admission to the Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum. For tour information and to schedule a ride on these vintage warbirds visit www.airpowertour.org.
