VFD holding fish fry
The Wise Ave. Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a fish fry fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 24 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the rear of the fire department at 214 Wise Ave, Dundalk, MD 21222.
The fundraiser is drive-thru only, and cash and credit are accepted. Meals including whiting fish, french fries and a drink for $12.
Pick up trash at Bear Creek, Charlesmont
Volunteers of all ages are needed for a joint Clean Bread and Cheese Creek/Maryland Waterways Foundation / Neighbor Space Cleanup Event. Help clean up the historic shoreline of Bear Creek and Charlesmont Park where both the British and American set up defensive positions during the War of 1812’s Battle of North Point. The British also used this location to evacuate their wounded and POW’s. Charlesmont Park was also the location were the Veterans of the War of 1812 celebrated Defender’s Day for over 75 years! The British were halted by the Maryland Militia in the Battle of North Point (now North Point Battlefield Park).
Registration will be located next to Battle Monument School (7801 East Collingham Drive, Dundalk, MD 21222. Look for the registration tents and the event banners. Registration will open at 8:00 am, and the cleanup will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Patapsco High Alumni Hosting Flea Market
Patapsco High School alumni will be hosting their first annual flea market, craft show and toy show on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Dundalk Athletic Club from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Vendors must set up at 6 a.m.
Chamber hosting farmers market
Cub Scouts will be selling popcorn at the the Greater Dundalk Chamber of Commerce’s weekly community farmers market this Saturday, offering fresh fruit, veggies, jams, jellies, honey, eggs and more. The market is held every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the corner of Dunmanway and Shipping Place in Historic Dundalk Town Center.
Golf tournament benefits VFD
The Wise Ave. Volunteer Fire Company’s “Guns and Hoses” golf tournament will be held on Sept. 27 at Sparrows Point Country Club.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. along with breakfast, and the shotgun start is at 9 a.m. The tournament costs $125 per person to participate. Those interested should register now by calling or texting Tracy Geho at 443-938-1658 or Tayvone Jackson at 410-814-9862.
Wood painting fundraiser for VFD scheduled
A wood painting fundraiser for the Wise Ave. Volunteer Fire Department will involve witch shoes and witch hats to kick off the Halloween season.
Tickets for the fundraiser are $50 for the fundraiser, which will be hosted at the fire department at 214 Wise Ave, Dundalk, MD 21222. It will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Painters will have a choice of shoes or a hat, and can pre-purchase to-go tickets if you cannot stay. Seating is limited, and masks must be worn. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase.

Lacks Luncheon scheduled
The Annual Henrietta Lacks Legacy Group (HLLG) Luncheon is scheduled for October 2, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. and will be a virtual affair.
The annual luncheon raises funds for the creation of a wax figure of Henrietta Lacks and the Henrietta Lacks Scholarship Endowment at the Community College of Baltimore County. It also offers a venue to share insights on Mrs. Lacks and to honor Turner Station residents, former residents, and friends for contributions made to the legacy of Henrietta Lacks or that of historic Turner Station. Mrs. Lacks, by all accounts, is figure whose reach is global.
This year’s honorees include Rev. Donald Jones, Man of the Year, The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Community Service Award, BayVanguard Bank, Business of the Year

Drug City Block Party slated
The annual block party at Drug City Pharmacy will feature giveaways, vendors, craft beer and wine tastings and food.
The event is free and no tickets are required, but anyone 21 and older may purchase a tasting ticket at the event for $10 to try beer, wine and spirits from dozens of vendors.

Pit beef fundraiser for Wise Ave.
The Wise Ave. Volunter Fire Department will hold a pit beef fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 2 from 11 to 3 p.m. at the rear of the VFD, located at 214 Wise Ave.
The sale, which is drive-thru only, accepts cash and credit, and will be serving pit beef, pit ham, pit turkey and french fries. Sandwiches are $10, fries are $3, burnt ends are $5, and a meal of a sandwich, fries and a drink are $14.

Chamber hosting golf tournament
The Greater Dundalk Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a golf tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 19, benefitting the Greater Dundalk Foundation.
Registration for the tournament, sponsored by Hammett Technologies, will begin at 7 a.m. at the Rocky Point Golf Course at 1935 Back River Neck Road in Essex. Breakfast will be provided, and the tournament will begin at 8 a.m., running through a lunch provided by Chick-Fil-A.
There will also be all you can drink beverages including water, soda and beer.
Golfers will also have a chance to win $10,000 through the tournament’s hole-in-one contest.
Registration is $125 per individual, and $440 for a foursome.
