SOLVED: Eagle imposter charged with theft

DUNDALK — The imposter who was selling fake subscriptions to The Dundalk Eagle and stealing people’s cash has been caught and charged with theft.

WMAR Channel 2 News reported that imposter Matthew Aldao was charged with theft of less than $100, a crime he’s faced more than 30 times in 2019.

Most recently, online court records indicate that he was charged on Nov. 5. WMAR reported that Aldao has also been charged with four counts of obtaining property from a vulnerable adult with a value that’s less than $1,500.

We are grateful to the community and fellow local news media for helping identify and apprehend this person. We want to remind anyone reading that we do not sell subscriptions door-to-door.

As much as we’re glad this guy’s not out there, fleecing Dundalkians and other Baltimore County residents, we’re not happy.

It earnestly upsets us any time one of our own local folks makes bad decisions that get them into trouble. We want Aldao — and anyone else reading who might have lost their way — to know that we look forward to the day when we can make you “Dundalk famous” for something positive!
