• January 24: DIY craft class

12:45-1:45 p.m.

Zoe instructs on how to make a sock penguin. It will tie in with your winter decorations and theme. Must sign up at the front desk by Jan. 17.

• January 29: Cookie baking an buying fundraiser

9 a.m.-noon

Staff will bake pre-cut cookies for sale. All proceeds benefit the center. The cost is $2 for six cookies. Buy multiple baggies. Must pre-order by Jan. 22. See the front desk for details.

• January 30: New member orientation

9:30-10:30 a.m.

Get a tour of the center and learn about its history. The session will help acquaint you to your new surroundings. Highly encouraged for new members. Must sign up at the front desk by Jan. 23.

Census 2020 Recruitment and information

10 a.m.-noon

Need a part-time job? Come out and see if this is a fit for you. You must submit an application and background checks will be performed. Look for additional dates through March.

• January 31: Movie, “I, Tonya”

12:45 p.m.

This movie follows the life of figure skater Tonya Harding and her connection to the 1994 attack on her rival, Nancy Kerrigan. Free popcorn. Must sign up at the front desk by Jan. 24.

• February 3: Blood Pressure Screenings

11 a.m.

Free blood pressure screenings. No need to sign up, but please show up.

Hats for Charity

10:30 a.m.

Beckie and Zoe will instruct on hat knitting. All hats will be donated to charity (but feel free to make another for yourself). Must sign up in advance in the program binder at the front desk.

TimeSlips

1:45 p.m.

Join Zoe as you create a story around various pictures. Let the creativity flow. Sign up at the front desk by Jan. 27.

• Tuesday, February 4: Ravens Run Party

Noon-1:30 p.m.

Lets honor the Ravens whether they win Super Bowl LIV or just have a great season run. Also add your name to the Eating Together list to enjoy lunch with friends. Sign up in advance at the front desk. Requested donation is $2.50.

• Wednesday, February 5: Tax Appointments

9 a.m.-3 p.m.

These weekly appointments to complete your tax returns are free, however, advance signups are required. Must sign up at the front desk. Appointments are based on availability.

Census resources and information

Noon

Join a representative as they discuss job opportunities and provide information about why the Census is so important to your district. Look for more dates in March. No need to sign up.

Join this group for added support in your life. Hopefully, you’ll learn additional skills to help you cope. Must sign up at the front desk by Jan. 30.

Insights in Aging

11-11:45 a.m.

Share with others the highlights and low-lights of aging. This is a safe and confidential space to discuss what’s going on in your life. Must sign up at the front desk by Jan. 30.

• Friday, February 7: Hot Dogs and Bingo

Noon-3 p.m.

Double the fun by eating lunch and playing Bingo. No need to sign up. Cost of lunch is $2. Bingo games are 50 cents per card and super special games are $1 for five games.

Movie, “Mandela”

12:45 p.m.

We pay homage to Black History Month with this story. The remarkable life of South African revolutionary, president and world icon Nelson Mandela (played by Idris Elba) takes center stage. Must sign up at the front desk by Jan. 31. Free popcorn will be available.

Alvin Miller helps you with your your computer and smartphone questions. Stay up to date with the latest technology. Must sign up at the front desk by Feb. 3.

• Tuesday, February 11: Feed the Birds Day

All day

It’s winter, but don’t forget to feed these sweet creatures. We are giving away free birdseed (until it’s gone) to help our outside friends survive the cold. No need to sign up.

Let’s all sing birthday wishes to those who were born in the month of February. Must sign up at the front desk by Feb. 5.

Classes are growing. Learning to balance all that life offers in an art. Come out and try basic meditation. You will leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Must sign up at the front desk.

Pick up a copy of this month’s recipe. Utilizing a seasonal way of cooking, this vegetarian recipe incorporates cabbage, carrots, onions and spices. This recipe is free.

• Friday, February 14: Valentine’s Day Party and Screenings

Rearview Mirror performs during this special event. Free, heart-healthy screenings will be offered. Sign up in advance at the front desk. The cost is $5 and includes Eating Together meal and music.

Civic Works has received a grant to provide free energy and water-saving products to low and moderate-income households in Baltimore County. Come out to see if you qualify.

• Friday, February 28: Movie, “Hachi”

12:45 p.m.

Young Ronnie reveals to his classmates that his personal hero is a dog named Hachi. Ribbed by his fellow pupils, Ronnie goes on to tell the remarkable story of his grandfather’s friendship with the dog. Must sign up at the front desk by Feb. 21. Free popcorn will be available.

Random Acts of Kindness Week: February 18-21

Be on the lookout for kind acts around every corner. We hope that you will continue to spread love and kindness each day of the year.

Bingocize continues on Feb. 4

Zoe will incorporate exercise and Bingo during these classes. Have a chance to win small prizes while you get moving. Mark your calendars; classes are as follows: Tuesdays, Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25; and Thursdays, Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27.. Classes are from 12:45-1:45 p.m. A minimum of 10 people is required, or the class will be cancelled. Max occupancy for each class is 20 people. Sign up in advance at the front desk.
