• ITEMS NEEDED!

For the White Elephant Table at the Annual Bazaar/Flea Market On November 2nd. New or gently used items like: Pictures, Purses, Jewelry, Household Items, New Books (no more than 3 years old), Knick-Knacks. No clothing/shoes please. Items needed by October 15th.

• Membership Registration/Re-Registration. Now is a good time to register or re-register for the center. You must be a current member to participate in classes, events and programs. Volunteers will be on hand in the library to assist you. Ask a friend to join with you.

• Donations of Jewelry Needed. The Edgemere Senior Center is accepting donations of jewelry for our gift shop. Your donations are very much appreciated.

• CASH BINGO!!! Every Friday 12:30 p.m. Join us for our weekly CASH BINGO with 23 games, specials and jack pot. Win $10 on regular games, $20 for specials and a chance for a growing jackpot. Snacks provided. You must be a member to play.

• Fitness Studio: Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Make getting in shape your goal for before summer comes at Edgemere’s Fitness Studio. Membership is $15.00 for three months. Treadmills, recumbent bikes, and fitness equipment.

• Friday, December 6: Center closed for Staff Day

• Monday, December 9: Seated Chair Massage Day

9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Massages will be offered by Doug Wittich, licensed massage therapist. The cost is $8 for a 15-minute massage or double your time for $16. Take some time to relax and pamper yourself before you move on with your week. Must pay in advance to reserve your spot.

• Tuesday, December 10: Stop the Bleed

10 a.m.

Learn how to stop life threatening bleeding with Lt. Tracey Marvel from BCFD. No prior medical training is required. The session will include an overview of bleeding control and hands-on demonstrations of compression, wound packing and tourniquet use.

Annie’s Restaurant, December 11,

Enjoy an evening meal at Annie’s Restaurant followed by touring the holiday displays “Lights on the Bay” & “Festival of Lights” at Sandy Point State Park. Price: $63.00. Contact the Travel Office at 410-477-2141 for more information on any of our trips.

1 p.m.

Join in a lively and interactive book discussion on Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. New members are always welcome.

• Thursday, December 12: Sparrows Point Middle School Chorus

12:30 p.m.

Come enjoy the holiday songs performed by Sparrows Point Chorus followed by refreshments and Bingo called by our own Santa Claus.

• Friday, December 13: Complete Your Self Care — Coping Strategies

10 a.m.

Learn about reducing negative life events, maintaining a positive self-image and emotional balance and developing satisfying relationships with others in this interactive class with holistic health advocate Al Meuhlberger. Participation is encouraged. Don’t be shy.

French Fry Friday

11:30 a.m.

Enjoy French fries and a hot dog before a rousing game of Bingo. The cost is $1.

• Monday, December 16: Holiday Party

Noon

Ring in the holidays with your friends. Live music provided by Mr. Charisma and a delicious meal of fried chicken, ribs, cole slaw and dessert catered by Cruisers. Cost: $10.

• Tuesday, December 17: Your Body Language May Shape Who You Are

10 a.m.

Amy Cuddy’s research on body language reveals that we can change other people’s perceptions — and perhaps even our own body chemistry — simply by changing body positions.

• Thursday, December 19: New Membership Orientation

9:30 a.m.

Come and learn about the Edgemere Senior and resources available through BCDA with Center Director Grace McDowell. Followed by a guided tour of the center.

Free blood pressure screening by Elaine Welkie from Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
