• The Dr. Martin L. King Luncheon will be held on Friday, Jan. 14 at 1 p.m. Join speaker Melvin Johnson as the center celebrates Dr. MLK with a luncheon, Q&A about MLK and entertainment. • A talk about dementia will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 1:30 p.m. Dementia is not a single disease, it’s an overall term — like heart disease — that covers a wide range of specific medical conditions including Alzheimer’s disease. Disorders grouped under the general term “dementia” are caused by abnormal brain changes. These changes trigger a decline in thinking skills severe enough to impair daily life and independent function. They also affect behavior, feelings and relationships.

• The monthly birthday celebration will be held on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. Nothing is more important or exciting than celebrating your special day. In your honor, the center is providing light refreshments and musical selections. Entertainment will be provided by Mary Branch and Arthur Randolph.

• A stroke awareness talk and blood pressure screening will be held Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 1:30 p.m. Join the center for an educational presentation on strokes and heart health. Following the presentation, blood pressure screenings will be provided. Please sign up in advance. Healthy refreshments will be served.

• Line Dancing with Roberta Marine will now be held every Friday at noon, with a $5 drop-in charge. Members can bring two new friends, and lunch is free! Sign up in advance.
