BALTIMORE — Jim passed away on May 20, 2021 due to his long years of suffering with ALS. He never complained of his illness. He would say “It is what it is”. He was a great and wonderful man who was loved by all that knew him. Jim will be remembered for his contagious laugh and great sense of humor. He loved telling jokes. He was always fun to be around. He was a very selfless man. Always putting others before himself. He loved children and they all loved him. Jim was an avid lover of football. He was a Raven fan but never lost his love for the Baltimore Colts. He played softball for many years. Was a great horseshoe player. He won many trophies in softball and horseshoes. He was on a bowling league for 25 years, and also coached little league with his sons. A man of many talents. The world has lost a one of a kind. The most wonderful man ever known. He will be in our hearts forever.
He was predeceased by his parents Earl and Burnadean Hurst, his beloved son Jimmy, sister Shirley Jankiewicz, brothers Kenny, Slugger and Louis Hurst.
He is survived by his loving wife Cindy of 31 years, son Brian, step-son Dave, loving sister Nancy (Bunk), brothers Jack (Gloria), Albert (Brenda), sister Janet (John), 7 grandchildren and 5 great grand-children. Many nieces and nephews.
Jim wanted his body donated to ALS. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
