Crime is getting out of hand in our area. We all heard about the recent shootings in Essex and Middle River over the weekend.
The first shooting was at the Eye Candy Lounge parking lot on early Sunday morning in the 400 block of Eastern Boulevard in Essex. There were approximately 34 potential lethal gun shots exchanged during this shooting. This type of behavior and criminal activity is not acceptable.
The next shooting took place in the 300-block of Farwind Drive in Middle River and that shooting resulted in a homicide. This shooting took place less than 10 hours later from the Eye Candy shooting on Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. in a residential area.
This is bad trend countywide, it was reported that homicides in Baltimore County are up 52 percent over the last year. Enough is enough. We know that many of our crime problems are spilling over from Baltimore City, we need to be proactive.
I also want to see a “zero tolerance” exhibited on criminals from our County Executive and new police chief. Both did inherit a lot of our current crime problems, but they need to keep Baltimore County from becoming a criminal friendly jurisdiction as we have seen in Baltimore City.
We need to send a message that we are not going to tolerant this activity and that criminals are not welcomed here in Baltimore County.
I love our Dundalk, Essex, Middle River, Rosedale and Edgemere communities and I will not go down without a fight. I will do anything and everything to keep crime from taking over our area. It is not too late to reverse the problems of our communities but we need to keep fighting and we better do it sooner before it is too late.
