In December, when most people are busy shopping and getting ready for the holidays, over 10,000 people packed the Giant Center, home of the Hershey Bears minor league hockey team in Hershey, Pennsylvania for a rally for President Trump.
Several thousand other people waited in the rain and watched the president’s speech on a Jumbotron. I am sure there were other things people could have been doing on a Tuesday evening, but rather chose to come to this rally. This rally took place in the middle of the busiest time of year and during the House of Representatives Impeachment proceedings. This was an eye-opening experience to see the outpouring support for Donald J. Trump, who has been vilified as the Devil. It was a sea of red “Make America Great Again” and “Keep America Great” baseball caps.
As an army veteran, I have stopped watching professional football since the kneeling during the National Anthem protests took place. Instead, I have become a big hockey fan. Hockey has replaced football as my winter sport of choice.
I watch professional hockey and go to several Hershey Bears games during the season. The Giant Center has a seating capacity of 10,500 people. Most Hershey Bear games draw around 5,000 people, and that is on the weekends. This should explain the magnitude of the Trump Rally on a weeknight when people have to go to work or school the next day.
A little after 7 p.m., Vice President Mike Pence took the stage to discuss what it is like to work with the president on a daily basis and see what he is doing firsthand. Then, he introduced the President. President Trump took the stage wearing his signature blue suit, white shirt, and red necktie to a standing ovation and a thunderous crowd.
For about an hour-and-a-half, the president spoke about his accomplishments during the past three years in office. The Stock Market, 401K Plans, and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are at record highs. Women are earning more money than ever before. The House of Representatives passed the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA) to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) to repair the unfair trade practices and barriers for American business people and farmers to sell their products.
The unemployment rate and unemployment rate among African-Americans and other groups are at all-time lows. The United States military is respected once again and the United States is respected on the world stage.
Despite all of these positive things, the President spoke about the unfair treatment by the media and the impeachment proceedings. He said that the Democrats cannot beat him in the election and the only way to defeat him is to try to remove him from office. If 10,000 people at a rainy weeknight rally is any indication, President Trump should win Pennsylvania again in the 2020 Presidential Election.
