Registrations are now being accepted for the annual Dundalk Heritage 6K race, which will begin at 7 a.m. July 4.

The race precedes the annual Dundalk Heritage July 4 Parade and roughly follows the same course of the parade before ending at Dundalk Middle School.

The 6k race (3.72 miles) begins on Sollers Point Road outside CCBC Dundalk. Registration is $40 and will be accepted online at until July 2.

Registration will also be taken at the packet pickup at the Drug City Pharmacy on 2805 North Point Road from 5 to 8 p.m. July 2.

Runners can also register on race day beginning at 6 a.m. If registering in-person, please use cash or have checks payable to the Heritage Association of Dundalk.

Registration in advance is encouraged.

Race t-shirts are available while supplies last and sizes are not guaranteed for those who do not register in advance.

The highlight of the race is the up to 25,000 spectators who will line the race course cheering on the runners as they wait for the start of the parade.

There will be water available on the course, and first aid and medical support.

Water and snacks will be available after the race. The awards presentation will be conducted in the Dundalk Middle School parking lot near the finish line.

In addition to the top male and female finishers, awards will be given to the male and female age group winners: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and older.

There were 230 runners last year and $7,500 was raised. Drew Langren was the overall winner, while Meaghan Murray-Neuberger was the first women finisher.
